The National Aviation University established first contacts with ICAO in early 80s, when this international organization held a number of seminars and meetings at the University. The National Aviation University participated actively in the implementation of many ICAO programs, some of them being aimed at experts training, research, ICAO documents translation, and etc.
Taking into account a high international recognition of the University and its great contribution to development of aeronautics and engineering, training and upgrading highly skilled specialists for more than 100 countries, the ICAO European Regional Aviation Security Training Centre was established at the University in 1996. The Centre has got the international certificate that permits training of various categories of aviation personnel responsible for aviation security.
In 2002 the ICAO Endorsed European Regional Government Safety Inspectors Training Centre was founded at the University with the United Nations Development Program assistance. Both Centres operate according to the TRAINAIR Methodology using ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices. English and Russian are languages of training. Highly skilled instructors, certified by ICAO, are involved into the delivering courses.
In 2003 the ICAO Institute had been created at the National Aviation University to ensure high level of educational and training activities in the fields of aviation security, flight safety and aircraft airworthiness in accordance with ICAO regulations. Today the ICAO European Regional Aviation Security Training Centre, the ICAO Endorsed European Regional Government Safety Inspectors Training Centre, the ICAO Academic Department as well as Aviation Safety Management, Aircraft Accident Prevention and Investigation, International and State Regulations, Aviation English Training Centres are the structural parts of the ICAO Institute.
20.07.2015 From 06th till 17th July 2015 the ASTP / Basic course was held in Podgorica (Montenegro).
