ICAO’s new language proficiency requirements demand that all international pilots and air traffic controllers must now have a minimum level of English – ICAO Operational Level 4.
Aviation English Courses for:
air traffic controllers;
engineers (Technical English);
aviation personnel (General Aviation English).
General English Courses.
These courses contain 150 academic hours of tuition and can be standard and intensive. Standard course lasts for 3 months and include 2 lessons per day 3 days per week. Lessons usually start at 15:00 and last till 18:00. The timetable is flexible. Intensive course lasts for 3 weeks and include 4 lessons per day 6 days per week. Lessons usually start at 8:00 and last till 15:30. The timetable is flexible.
The contents of the courses meet the requirements of the six areas covered by the ICAO Rating Scale (Pronunciation, Structures, Vocabulary, Fluency, Comprehension, Interactions).
Courses for Aviation English teachers (Initial and Recurrent Trainings)
This course contains 150 academic hours of tuition and lasts for 3 weeks that include 4 lessons per day 6 days per week. Lessons usually start at 8:00 and last till 15:30.
This course covers different Aviation English topics as well it includes an analysis of the ICAO language proficiency documents: ICAO Doc 9835 “Manual on the Implementation of ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements”, ICAO Cir 318 “Language Testing Criteria for Global Harmonization” and ICAO Cir 323 “Guidelines for Aviation English Training Programs”. The course proposes good practices in preparing Aviation English personnel, the best practices in Aviation English teaching, testing and developing Aviation English teaching materials.
Courses for Raters and Examiners (Initial and Recurrent Trainings)
This course contains 48 academic hours of tuition and lasts for 1 week that includes 4 lessons per day 6 days per week. Lessons usually start at 8:00 and last till 15:30.
The objective of this course is to enable experienced and certified Aviation English teachers to understand and apply the ICAO language proficiency Rating Scale.
According to the ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements stated in the ICAO Cir 318 all raters and examiners should pass recurrent training every year.
Upon completion of the course all listeners will be issued the ICAO Certificates.
